Lídia Masllorens lives in the north of Catalonia, between the Gavarres mountains, the plain of La Selva, and the Costa Brava. The painter often walks through this landscape, between the darkness of the mountain oaks and the light of the pines, the sky, and the Mediterranean Sea. It is in these places that the chiaroscuro develops in her paintings. She lives and works in the historic centre of her village, Cassà, where she feels the tinkling of the church bells, which mark the passage of time and life. These bells are the heartbeat of this small country of artists and potters, who build small clay walls every day, which in turn are transformed into real works of art. Her vast studio allows her to create her monumental works on paper, using her very special technique of removing black acrylic, a process that forces humility since the result is never certain.
