Artist At Home: Vinça Monadé

from July 10, 2021

Vinça Monadé, who has been living in the countryside to the east of Paris for many years, could not live without greenery. Her meticulously tended garden, with its rosebushes resplendent in this month of June, is a testament to this. Over a homemade pie and a fruit salad, in the shade of a parasol on the terrace overlooking the garden, Vinça spoke to us about her musicologist husband, her attraction to the beauty of medieval art and the life shared between her two studios. In fact, her ceramics studio is sheltered from the heat and humidity of the cellar, while she shares the first floor with her husband for drawing. Thus, Vinça has plenty of time to divide her time between teaching ceramics and her artistic practice. In this environment, the artist always finds new variations of her different series of pastels and only falls asleep when she is - almost - fully satisfied with the shapes, lines and colours that result from her research. We left with flowers, inspired as much by Vinça's insatiable curiosity as by the house that she lives in. Subscribe to our newsletter to read all our interviews.
